Spielscheune Unterkirnach

The Spielscheune offers fun and adventure for almost all children. The little ones get their money's worth in the children's paradise. A relaxing dip in the ball pool, a ride on the roller slide, climbing under the roof ridge or in the low ropes course and then a breather in the bird's nest swing.

The slightly older ones feel particularly at home in the Western Saloon, where, in addition to pool tables, air field hockey and table football, delicious pizzas are waiting to be ordered at the counter with real cowboy saddles. There are also plenty of trampolines and several climbing facilities for the more adventurous.

The Spielscheune is recommended for both good and bad weather.

Animal feeding

The wonderful village of Unterkirnach is just a few minutes' drive from the hotel. Several times a week, the animals are fed and can be stroked in the wildlife enclosure

Family hike "High moors and legends"

From the Reinertonishof cultural monument, the route follows forest paths through a raised bog with footbridges to the legendary Blindensee lake. You will learn interesting facts about the history of the earth, the forest and the moor and find "menhirs". Further information: Total duration approx. 4 hours, walking time approx. 2.5 hours, 7 km. Refreshments available at the Reinertonishof in Schönwald. Meeting point Mühlenplatz, drive to the starting point in your own car. The tour is suitable for baby carriages.

Tatzmania Löffingen

Tatzmania is not just a zoo and theme park**, but fun for the whole family. The park has one of the largest predator enclosures in Europe and the spacious enclosures offer the animals plenty of room. But that's not all - the park has an extremely attractive design and extends over an extensive area that invites you to explore.

For those in search of thrills, Tatzmania offers a variety of rides ranging from rollercoasters to relaxing raft rides. There really is something for everyone here!

Minigolf course

Just a stone's throw from the hotel on the edge of the spa gardens is an idyllic mini-golf course that offers fun for young and old alike. On the cozy terrace, you can choose between ice cream or soft drinks and small snacks after the game.

Black Forest Railway Museum

Lovers of model railroads will get their money's worth here; the Black Forest Railway Museum in Schramberg is home to the world's largest size 2 collection with over 900 lovingly handcrafted railroad models.

In addition to the two display layouts "Schwarzwaldbahn" and "Schramberg an der Schwarzwaldbahn", there are 3 other dioramas on display.

Blessings Distillates

Not far from the Romantik® Hotel Rindenmühle, the Blessing family has been distilling excellent brandies since 1921. The master distiller works out of conviction with an open fireplace and wood as a fuel instead of gas. An in-house catalyst extracts the hydrocyanic acid from the alcohol vapor - an absolute mark of quality.

Visit Mr. Blessing in his distillery, taste and buy the finest distillates directly from Villingen-Schwenningen.

In our restaurant we also serve many award-winning brandies from the range and sell them by the bottle on request.

Black Forest beekeeper Wilfried Straub

Wilfried Straub also accommodates guests just a few minutes away from the hotel: His bee colonies. The wonderful nature with many coniferous trees produces a wonderful sweet honey with different flavors, depending on where the colonies have just filled up their nectar. Wilfried Straub cultivates a gentle approach to nature, which was also the motivation to become a beekeeper.

You can get the honey selection at our breakfast buffet or buy it by the jar at reception.

Stockwälder Hoflädele

The Stockwälder Hoflädele is just a stone's throw from the hotel. It is well worth a visit to buy regional specialties.

Our hotel obtains seasonal fresh geese directly from the farm shop and thus ensures regionality for the "whole goose meal" in the winter months. Enjoy a whole goose in our restaurant for 3 or more people, carved at the table by the patron himself.

If you spot the milk goat on the menu, you can be sure that this animal also comes from Stockwald.

Dieterlehof in Gremmelsbach-Triberg

Not far from the highest waterfalls in Germany in Triberg lies the Scherzinger family's Dieterlehof farm in an idyllic location. Here, happy free-range chickens live on a large area under the most modern and strict hygiene regulations, but without any factory farming. The family wants their chickens to feel at home. In order to avoid the pointless disposal of small and broken eggs, these are processed into home-made pasta using a modern system, which can also be bought directly from the farm.

Here you can enjoy the eggs by eating them from the breakfast buffet, scrambled eggs and our pasta, as well as all egg dishes.

Stotz sheep farm in Münsingen

Gerhard and Bärbel Stotz's sheep farm is located in the middle of the Swabian Alps. The sheep and lambs lead a happy life on the wide meadows of the alp. Fresh greenery and various herbs in the meadows give the meat a particularly aromatic taste, among other things. The Stotz family attaches great importance to keeping the animals naturally, which is why they do not use industrial concentrated feed.

Especially in the fall months, we serve regional and extremely fresh lamb meat in great dishes.

Fasnet

When you think of Villingen, you also think of carnival, which has been celebrated in the town for many centuries. This tradition has survived plague and feuds, wars and famines as well as the many bans imposed on it by the authorities; it is a true folk tradition!

Franciscan Concert Hall

The region's concert hall: since the conversion of the former church hall into a concert hall, the town of Villingen-Schwenningen has been able to offer an exceptional venue for concerts of the highest quality. The concert hall can accommodate almost 1000 visitors and has a very special atmosphere and charisma.

The Villingen Minster Concerts are outstanding cultural events! They are performed by church musicians and numerous choirs as well as well-known artists from Germany and abroad.

Golf course Königsfeld

Golf course Der Öschberghof

The Öschberghof golf course is situated in a quiet location away from the industrial town of Donaueschingen. This course offers a total of 3 courses. You can choose to play the 18-hole Old Course, built in 1975, the 18-hole East Course, built in 2017, or the simpler 9-hole Academy Course.

In addition to various practice facilities, the Hexenweiher restaurant also serves food and drink.

Golfclub Hochschwarzwald

The 18-hole golf course is located in one of the most beautiful valleys in the Upper Black Forest on the edge of Titisee-Neustadt. Large parts of the Altenweg Valley are a nature reserve. The fantastic views of centuries-old farms and the enchanted side valleys are always impressive.

The course is perfectly suited to the natural surroundings. Gentle hills, forests and streams guarantee an eventful game in an incomparable environment.

In the Golfstüble with adjoining terrace you can enjoy a hearty meal after the game.

Premium hiking trail Waldpfad Groppertal

The certified premium hiking trail "Waldpfad Groppertal" with its natural paths offers impressive views of the Black Forest. Through varied forest passages and past typical Black Forest farms, hikers reach the Groppertal valley. In addition to the 20-metre-high 'Uhustein' rock with viewing platform in Villingen's Germanswald forest, the Salvest game reserve with play and rest area is one of the highlights of the trail.

The Breitbrunnen inn is an inviting place to take a break.

Schwenninger Moos

Founded in 1939, the Schwenninger Moos nature reserve is around 4000 years old. The moor was drained for a long time in order to extract peat. This served as fuel for the population, especially after the wars. But after a long time, it was realized that the moor could not continue to flourish without water and so more than 50 barriers were built.

There is a 3.5 km long walking trail** around the Schwenninger Moos, where there is plenty to discover thanks to the many information boards.

Adjacent to the Schwenninger Moos is the "Möglingshöhe "** park with a barefoot path, opportunities to linger and a lake that was extended for the State Garden Show in 2010.

Rose garden in Hubenloch Park

Villingen's Hubenlochpark is located just a few kilometers from the hotel above Villingen city center. From the viewing tower you have a great view over the town and can linger on the lovingly arranged seating areas.

One of the highest rose gardens in Europe is also located here at 750 meters. Especially in summer you can enjoy the full splendor.

Orchestrion tour

"Seeing-Hearing-Understanding" is the motto under which the Association for Local History and Orchestrion History introduces visitors to the world of mechanical musical instruments. The instruments in the Heimatstube will be played and, of course, questions about technology and history will be answered. Immerse yourself in the entertainment music of the past.

Guided tour of the mill

The mill tour explains how the historic mill, its grinding mechanism and the bakery work. Duration approx. 45 minutes. Please register at the Tourist Information Office by 15:00 the day before, tel. 07721/8008-37.

Guided tour ‘It was dark’

The pilgrim tells of secrets and myths, the carnival and the meaning of pilgrimage. Registration by 15:00 at the Tourist Information Office. Meeting point in front of the town hall. Cost: Adults € 7.00 and children from 11 to 15 years € 6.00 (reduced with guest card).

Franciscan Museum

The former Franciscan monastery and orphanage is home to a cultural history museum with various collections on the history of the town and region (3 km).

Local History & Clock Museum

More than 1000 years of Schwenningen history, finds from prehistory and early history as well as a fully equipped watchmaker's workshop, watchmaking tools and many different types of Black Forest clocks as well as the Hellmut Kienzle collection can be found in the local history and clock museum in Schwenningen (15 min).

Aviation museum

The International Aviation Museum in Schwenningen is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for aircraft restorer and designer Manfred Plumm. After years of restoring and rebuilding airplanes for other museums, he opened his own museum in Schwenningen. Here, airplane enthusiasts can currently admire around 40 exhibits, some of which are also airworthy (15 min).

Municipal Gallery

The Municipal Gallery organizes exhibitions with works of classical modernism and contemporary art. The contemporary art exhibitions are reserved for young artists who discuss figurative tendencies or border areas in the examination of 'art form' or 'natural form'.

Inns and breweries in old Villingen

What rights did a tavern keeper have and what did the brewer do? In a guided tour through the medieval town of Villingen you will learn all about food and drink in those days from the brewer Hilarius Nikolaus Schilling.

Fastnachtsmuseum Narrenschopf

The Swabian-Alemannic carnival is one of the most splendid and traditional events in the German-speaking world.

In this special kind of museum, you can also discover the carnival customs of the southwest outside of the carnival season. Did you know that the costume of the Schneckenhüsli-Narro consists of 2500 empty snail shells? Or have you ever heard Heischesprüche? In addition to wood-carved masks, hand-painted robes and all kinds of props, some of which are centuries-old handicrafts, the museum also offers numerous media and hands-on stations for your visit. Immerse yourself in the Swabian-Alemannic carnival and experience a part of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage with all your senses.

Experience this special custom in the Museum Narrenschopf even outside of the carnival season.

Running club

Running is more fun in a group! The guided running route takes place regularly and lasts approx. 1 hour.

Ackerloch cross-country run

Cross-country running is a variant of running that focuses on running through profiled terrain away from paved paths.

Trimm-Dich-Pfad

The fitness trail offers the opportunity to train endurance, strength and fitness at the same time. The running route leads through the forest, where a piece of sports or gymnastics equipment is placed every 200-300 meters. At each station there is a board with a description of the corresponding exercise.

The 2.9-kilometre-long Villingen fitness trail with 20 stations starts at the forest parking lot on Obere Waldstraße in Germanswald.

blocwald - VS bouldering center

The large and modern bouldering hall was only opened in 2019 and offers the right challenge for everyone with a wide variety of wall shapes. Those who want to go higher can prove themselves on the 15 m high climbing tower. There is also a spacious children's forest for younger climbers.

Upjoy - Bouldering hall Villingen

The UPJOY bouldering hall offers the perfect challenge for beginners, advanced climbers and top athletes with around 150 bouldering routes up to 4.5 m high in various levels of difficulty. There are also 2 free-standing top-out blocks with a height of 4 m. There are special bouldering routes for small children with smaller grip spacing and lower heights.

Triberg waterfalls

The Triberg waterfalls, the highest waterfalls in Germany, promise a unique natural experience. The water of the Gutach plunges 163 meters down into the valley in seven stages. The waterfalls are accessible all year round and in all weathers. However, they offer a very special backdrop in winter or in the evening, when the waterfalls are illuminated until 22:00.

The Ranger - 3D archery course

Relax with a break from everyday life and experience intuitive archery in the Black Forest. Enjoy nature and archery in an intuitive way, true to the motto "If you're in a hurry, go slow".

Test your skills on the 3D course. The Hochwald Tour covers approx. 35 hectares of forest and is divided into 3 tours of different lengths. The longest tour has approx. 80 shots and takes about 5 hours. The Gamshorn Trail offers 35 shots at 28 stations with a high shooting density and short distances.

Kneippbad Villingen

In the immediate vicinity of the hotel, the Kneippbad Villingen invites you to swim, splash around and relax in the summer months. The pool offers a competitive swimmer's pool, a non-swimmer's pool and a children's paddling pool as well as plenty of space on the large sunbathing lawn.
