Recommended Routes

Would you prefer to explore the surroundings on your own? Below we have put together some of our recommendations for jogging, cycling and hiking. The link will take you to the route in Google Maps, which is particularly convenient for use on your smartphone.

Loop Trail to the Magdalene Oak

From the hotel, this trail first leads along a residential area up to the Magdalene hill. From there you have an excellent view from the south of the town of Villingen. The route then continues to the neighbouring village of Pfaffenweiler. With a distance of approx. 11.0 km it can be mastered on foot in an estimated 2 hours and 18 minutes and by bicycle in about 35 minutes.

Loop Trail to the Rose Garden

The Rosengarten is located right next to the city centre of Villingen, but offers plenty of green space nevertheless. Right next to it there is an observation tower which offers an outstanding view over the historic old town. The path leads mainly through residential areas and is one of the shorter routes with a distance of about 5.8 km. On foot it can be mastered in about 1 hour and 14 minutes and by bike in 19 minutes.

Loop Trail to the Feldner Mill and the Tannenhöhe Inn

This path leads in the opposite direction – away from the city and into nature. Along the river that used to run our mill, you first pass through a short piece of forest before you reach the Feldner Mill. The path then continues uphill and leads back to the hotel along a large meadow. With a distance of about 2.9 km, the path can be covered in about 37 minutes on foot and in about 11 minutes by bike.

Loop Trail to the Restaurant “Forelle” and the “Breitbrunnen” Inn

A beautiful route along the Brigach river and passing by the former Kirnach railway station, where duke and counts used to arrive, it leads through the Unterkirnacher forest for about 5km. With a total distance of 11.5 km, this route is suitable for those who prefer longer and medium-difficult routes. On foot it is about 2 hours and 27 minutes, by bike approximately 49 minutes.
